  Having read the reviews I expected something better than was experienced.
  The food was very mediocre and whilst not expecting a gourmet meal felt it could have been a lot better.
  Service was quite rapid and the starters were delivered in a reasonable time but the whitebait which was supposed to be accompanied by granary bread had a piece of ordinary white sliced bread cut into 4.The lemon wedge was missing but this was rectified on request.My wifes breaded mushrooms were o.k.but very few in quantity.
  We both opted for the chicken and bacon melt which was,oddly,served in a sweet brioche bun.The bacon was edible but due to it being back bacon could not have been crispy as described on the menu.The chicken was fine but the Monterey Jack cheese was.in my opinion,not like the real thing.Chips were good. Finally the soured cream dip tasted to both of us like ordinary mayonnaise.Overall the meal was not the best.
  There didn't seem to be many people eating in the bar but a private function was taking place in the restaurant.I would like to think that the attention of the kitchen personnel was focussed on that,hence the issues mentioned.
  I didn't complain at the time as the bar was getting busy and the staff seemed a bit under pressure but I hope this was a "one off".

  Well the food was actually good when it arrived!! here in lies the problem with a whopping 15 or so cars on the car park. We ordered 3 meals- 1 arrived 15 minutes before the other 2 so it was eat it or let it go stone cold apparently a burger takes longer than a sunday roast !!!!.(Strike 1) the 2 burgers arrived both ordered with sweet potato fries one had regular fries ( strike 2) side order of onion rings" yes they are on there way" with the burgers and fries pretty much eaten the Onion rings were dropped almost literally on the table ( strike 3) No real apology great potential - but shocking food organisation food was good but i wouldn't go if they are busy. Delay flagged with bar staff- Delay flagged with serving staff - onion rings chased with serving staff. Food was good but be prepared to eat in relays .
